Selecting the right fall protection and gas detection equipment for construction is critical. Here are the most common questions from safety officers, site managers and principal contractors.
The OHS Act Construction Regulations require a fall protection plan for work at 2 metres or above. The plan must identify fall risks, specify controls and document equipment to be used. This may include a full body harness with energy-absorbing lanyard, a self-retracting personal fall limiter, or a horizontal lifeline. Yes. PSA Africa provides annual inspection and certification of harnesses, lanyards, self-retracting lifelines and horizontal lifeline systems in accordance with SANS 50365. After inspection, each item receives a service record supporting your site safety file and audit requirements. Equipment that fails inspection is tagged out of service with a written replacement recommendation.
Equipment meets SANS 50361 for full body harnesses, SANS 50362 for connectors, SANS 50363 for energy-absorbing lanyards and SANS 50365 for periodic inspection. Horizontal lifeline systems comply with EN 795 Class C. All products are third-party certified.
